Qualifications

  • Strong manufacturing/operations background with five (5) years of experience.
  • Three (3) years of Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Lean tools such as Standard Work, SMED and 6S.
  • High School Diploma Required, Associate Preferred.
  • Exposure to and practical understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Must have excellent people skills and strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leads production team to meet daily production needs and the on-time delivery goal while upholding safety, quality, efficiency, and cost metrics.
  • Prepares and communicates daily work assignments within the area.
  • Ensures materials, tooling, fixtures, and parts are available to execute daily plan.
  • Audits 6S checklists to maintain a safe, clean working environment.
  • Audits TPM checklists to ensure equipment is in good condition.
  • Supports development and execution of cross-training plans and onboarding of new staff.
  • Identifies production problems, reviews re-work and rejects, and works with support departments to minimize rejects and maintain flow.
  • Performs safety inspections and toolbox talks; ensures OSHA compliance.
  • Maintains accountability for meeting product quality standards and production schedules; manages area inventory and Kanban levels.
  • Oversees day-to-day execution of team duties, policies, attendance, and safety; may run production or fill in as needed.
  • Identifies staffing and equipment gaps and proposes solutions; trains and motivates personnel.

Job purpose

Manage operators and area assets to execute production plan efficiently.

Duties and responsibilities
  • Leads production team to meet the daily production needs of the customer and the OTD goal for the site while meeting safety, quality, efficiency, and cost metrics.
  • Prepares and communicates daily work assignments within the assigned area.
  • Ensures that required materials, tooling, fixtures, and parts are available to execute daily production plan.
  • Audit 6s checklists for the assigned area to ensure a safe and clean working environment
  • Audit TPM checklists for the assigned area to ensure that the equipment is kept in good working condition.
  • Supports the d evelopment and execution of cross-training plans to have at least two people able to perform every defined task. Use Manufacturing Documentation to provide training to staff, as needed. Lead efforts to onboard new employees.
  • Identifies product/production problems, review production re-work and rejected part inspection reports. Assist in determining and eliminating causes; works with support departments to minimize rejects and maintain optimum production flow.
  • Conducts operations safely, in compliance with OSHA standards, completes safety inspections and toolbox talks as required.
  • Responsible to act to prevent the process, product, or Quality System nonconformances and to recommend solutions while establishing root cause and countermeasures for misses.
  • Ensures individual accountability for meeting product quality standards and production schedule commitments while maintaining accurate area inventory and Kanban levels.
  • Responsible for all day-to-day execution of various aspects of their assigned team including application of company policies, routine working rules and regulations, employee growth, attendance, and safety.
  • May be required to run production to help execute daily production goals or to fill in for absent team members within the assigned area.
  • Identifies staffing and equipment needed to meet production requirements and suggests solutions to fill gaps in the resource plan.
  • Trains, and motivates personnel as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Experience
  • Strong manufacturing/operations background with five (5) years of experience
