Job summary

Matrix Adhesives Group, based in Durham, NC, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead the operations team from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm EST, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime. You will coach staff, drive continuous improvement, and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products across multiple brands.

The role requires 2+ years of manufacturing leadership, strong Excel and MRP experience, and a proven ability to manage safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience.
  • High School Degree or GED equivalent.
  • Intermediate-Advanced Excel with pivot tables, v-lookups, formulas.
  • Experience using MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred).
  • Metric-driven inventory management experience.
  • Proven ability to guide a team to meet objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment and educate personnel on equipment and 5S.
  • Lead daily standup meetings to communicate safety, quality, delivery, and staffing needs.
  • Plan, monitor, evaluate results; coach and discipline as needed.
  • Provide hands-on contribution when required.
  • Use MRP data to plan and track inventory and production activity.
  • Recruit, orient, and train staff to support growth.
  • Schedule and assign personnel to achieve lean daily management goals.
  • Maintain quality by enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Develop and revise systems through continuous improvement.
  • Resolve personnel problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and approve Paycom timecards.

Based in Durham, NC, the Production Supervisor is a key member of the operations leadership team supporting our IPS Adhesives Operating Company. In this role the supervisor will provide direction, coaching, and technical expertise to the associates. This includes building and sustaining a culture of continuous improvement. They will also actively manage their assigned team to safely deliver a quality product, on time, to meet customer demand. This position will be expected to work 6 am - 2:30 pm EST Monday through Friday. Additional hours including Saturdays will be required at times based on business needs. This is an exempt/salaried position.

Expected Results and Accountabilities:
  • Ensures a safe and clean work environment by educating and guiding personnel on using all equipment, resources, and 5S tools while maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conducts daily standup meetings to communicate and reinforce safety protocols, quality issues, delivery goals, inventory constraints, and personnel requirements.
  • Reviews job expectations; plan, monitor, and evaluate job results; coach, counsel, and discipline employees; initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems and policy procedures.
  • Provides support in being a hands-on contributor supervisor when needed
  • Utilizes MRP data to plan, monitor, and track all inventory and production activity.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees to foster personal growth opportunities.
  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results through the Lean Daily Management Process.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements, implementing continuous improvement change.
  • Resolves personnel problems by investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Manage and approve employee timecards in Paycom.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Required Experience:
  • 2+ Years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • High School Degree or GED equivalent
  • Intermediate-Advanced skills in Excel with experience creating pivot tables, v-lookups, and formulas.
  • Experience using MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred)
  • Proven metric-driven experience with inventory management
  • Experience developing metric-driven execution strategies to reach short/long-term goals.
  • Demonstrated success in guiding a team of employees to achieve the objectives for their area of responsibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret regulatory language, industry-specific terms, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as production demand requires
  • Able to adjust the process variables to maintain quality production, adjust to changes in workflow, and prioritize as needed to meet deadlines
  • Highly organized and excellent multi-tasker
  • Strong leadership & problem-solving skills
Preferred Experience:
  • Intermediate written/spoken Spanish is preferred
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems to collaborate with warehouse, inventory and shipping teams
  • Forklift experience preferred
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills and technical background/familiarity
  • Previous experience and readiness to be a hands-on contributor supervisor
