To grow our team in Detroit, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Press Shop Supervisor to lead our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal stamping processes, automation/controls, and project management with a focus on efficiency, quality, and team leadership. This role is crucial for ensuring our goals and objectives are met, workflows are organized and staffed efficiently, and team members are supported and maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee installation and commissioning projects, including with the supplier/integrator.
- Establish daily, weekly and monthly objectives and communicate them to team members.
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing work assignments.
- Supervise, train, coach and mentor team members.
- Ensure team members adhere to safety guidelines, quality specifications, and company standards.
- Maintain team member timecards and overtime.
- Facilitate team member performance reviews, identifying career development opportunities and improvements.
- Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule maintenance.
- Verify production output and measure against requirements.
- Submit reports on performance and progress.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitate communication.
- Work with team members to resolve issues and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure production goals are consistently met.
- Initiate, suggest and implement plans to motivate, empower and develop team members to achieve work goals in a team-based environment.
- Maintain lean techniques such as 5S, standardized work, waste identification and elimination.
- Follow ISO/TS, OSHA/MIOSHA, safety, and environmental procedures as well as department and corporate policies and procedures.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years as a Press Shop Supervisor in a Tier 1 Automotive Manufacturing environment.
- Project/Program Management experience.
- Extensive experience in industrial automation, with a focus on PLC systems, communications architecture and integration with robotics. (Allen-Bradley platforms).
- Experience in using various types of manufacturing equipment and tools, especially automated metal stamping presses.
- Experience in reporting on key production metrics.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ERP Software.
