Job summary

Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) in Cedar Falls, IA, is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a 10- to 20-person production team on a 4‑day, 10‑hour schedule (7:30 PM–6:00 AM). You’ll drive safety, quality, and efficiency while maintaining production plans and training staff.

Responsibilities include coaching, KPI management, equipment troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong emphasis on lean methods and ISO compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency with Amtech cost accounting modules.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills to guide a production team.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety rules and ISO procedures at all times.
• Directs production staff, including recruiting, training and coaching.
• Drives KPI targets focusing on quality, output and efficiency.
• Leads teams on safety, productivity, waste reduction and quality improvements.
• Maintains timekeeping and records for direct reports.
• Ensures production plans and schedules are followed and issues resolved.

Job description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor though supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 10-20 associates. Also responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness.

3rd Shift Schedule:

This position works a 4-day, 10-hour schedule, Monday through Thursday.

Hours:

7:30 PM - 6:00 AM

Duties & Responsibilities:

Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

• Follows and enforces established safety rules, ISO standards policies and procedures at all times
• Directs supervision of production staff including recruiting, selecting, training and developing associates through coaching and disciplinary actions
• Uses a Customer Driven approach to achieve KPI targets and engage associates in the improvement process (i.e. production quality, output, processes and efficiencies)
• Leads work teams focused on continuous improvement in safety, productivity, waste and quality improvement
• Maintains timekeeping and personnel records for all direct reports
• Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
• Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
• Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
• Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests
• Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
• Assists with hands‑on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
• Operate forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic

• Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting.

Qualifications Desired:

• High school diploma / GED
• Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
• Certified forklift operator
• Working knowledge of all production machines, plant equipment and operations
• Results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment
• Demonstrates aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
• Drives results through others
• Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable
