Job summary

Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. (BCI) is seeking a production supervisor for a 3rd shift in Cedar Falls, IA. You will oversee a 10–20 person team on a busy packaging line, drive safety, quality and on-time delivery, and partner with maintenance to minimize downtime.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, lean improvements, and data-driven decision making to meet daily production targets in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in the corrugated packaging industry preferred.
• Certified forklift operator.
• Working knowledge of production machines and plant equipment.
• Results-oriented with problem-solving ability.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills.
• Assertive leader who holds self and others accountable.

Responsibilities

• Directs supervision of production staff including recruiting, training and developing associates.
• Enforces safety rules and ISO standards and procedures.
• Uses a Customer Driven approach to achieve KPI targets.
• Leads teams focused on safety, productivity, waste and quality improvements.
• Maintains timekeeping and records for direct reports.
• Monitors workflows, implements cost reductions and reports results.
• Plans production by priorities, tracks progress and revises schedules.
• Ensures equipment operation and assists with troubleshooting.
• Maintains safe, clean work environment and safety protocols.
• Attends workshops to maintain knowledge; engages in hands-on machine operation.
• Operates forklift as needed in tight spaces.
• Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Purpose

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the production floor though supervision, development and training of the production team which includes approximately 10-20 associates. Also responsible for the efficient movement of product through the plant with a focus on quality and timeliness.

3rd Shift Schedule

This position works a 4-day, 10-hour schedule, Monday through Thursday.

7:30 PM - 6:00 AM

Duties & Responsibilities

Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:

• Follows and enforces established safety rules, ISO standards policies and procedures at all times
• Directs supervision of production staff including recruiting, selecting, training and developing associates through coaching and disciplinary actions
• Uses a Customer Driven approach to achieve KPI targets and engage associates in the improvement process (i.e. production quality, output, processes and efficiencies)
• Leads work teams focused on continuous improvement in safety, productivity, waste and quality improvement
• Maintains timekeeping and personnel records for all direct reports
• Maintains efficient workflows by monitoring processes and variables; implements cost reductions; develops reporting procedures and systems
• Completes production plan by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising production schedules, resolving problems and reporting results or issues
• Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs; assists in troubleshooting machine issues
• Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests
• Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary and personnel requirements
• Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing associates on the use of all equipment and safety protocols
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
• Assists with hands-on operation of machines, including operating and feeding large press machines that requires a full awareness of surroundings, machine pinch points and safety protocols
• Operate forklift, as needed, in tight spaces with human traffic
• Other duties as assigned
