Job summary

Woodbridge Chattanooga Formed Plastics L.P. is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee shift operations, drive lean initiatives, and ensure on-time production while maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will coach hourly staff, manage labor costs, and coordinate with multiple shifts to meet customer requirements and production schedules. This role emphasizes continuous improvement, adherence to IATF 16949:2016, and strong communication within a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing setting with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to coach and train employees.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and quality systems in manufacturing.
  • Solid computer skills and basic Excel for tracking orders and inventory.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal skills, strong written communication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot pre-foaming, setup, cycling, and molding processes.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 14001 procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure production schedule is met to maximize plant efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain control of department labor costs including overtime and maximize labor utilization.
  • Promote and lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities (Kaizen, 5S) using Woodbridge Production System.
  • Ensure set-up and cycle times are met.
  • Make decisions on technical or scheduling issues and coordinate with other shifts for communication.
  • Supervise hourly plant employees on the shift, including coaching, discipline and scheduling.
  • Ensure employees receive necessary training to perform duties.
  • Ensure quality standards per IATF 16949:2016 requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment with proper PPE and housekeeping.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all production paperwork.
  • Oversee stock movements and shipping to maintain inventory levels.
  • All other related duties as assigned by the Production Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for ensuring that the production schedule is met in an efficient and effective manner to maximize plant efficiency and meet customer requirements.
  • Maintain control of department labor cost including overtime, and maximize labor utilization.
  • Promote and lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen and 5S initiatives by utilizing Woodbridge Production System tools.
  • Ensure set-up and cycle times are met.
  • Responsible for decision-making and problem-solving on any technical or scheduling issues and coordinating with other shifts to ensure good communication.
  • Responsible for supervision of all hourly plant employees on that shift, including employee coaching, discipline and scheduling of work.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employees receive the necessary training required to effectively perform their duties.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met according the quality management system and IATF 16949:2016 requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, including providing instruction on safe operations, necessary personal protective equipment and good housekeeping.
  • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all production paperwork.
  • Responsible for overseeing any stock movements and shipping duties to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • All other related duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
DIRECT REPORTS:
  • All plant employees on a designated shift including set-up operators, press operators and all other plant employees working on their shift.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • Experience within a manufacturing setting in a supervisory role.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and train employees to excel.
  • Understanding of customer requirements and quality systems within the automotive and packaging marketplace.
  • Well-developed computer skills with the ability to use the computer system as an effective tool for tracking orders and maintaining accurate inventory and production records and basic Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal skills and above average written communication skills.
  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot the pre-foaming, set-up, cycling and shape-molding processes.
  • Understanding of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 1400 requirements and work procedures.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education focusing on mechanical/technical/production areas and some business training in inventory management, accounting, customer service and quality assurance, or equivalent manufacturing experience
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Schedule hours may be altered as required. Ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as requested, is required.
