Job summary

Means-Industries is hiring for a manufacturing supervisor in Michigan. You will lead teams on the plant floor, uphold safety, drive lean initiatives and 5S, and ensure production goals are met while adhering to company policies.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree (preferred), 5+ years in a fast-paced manufacturing setting (auto focus), and strong communication. Shift flexibility and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
  • Experience managing people is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with workforce, suppliers and customers.
  • Must read blueprints.
  • Familiar with using a CMM.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in Kronos or a similar timekeeping system.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.
  • Willing to work any shift and periodic weekend overtime.
  • Positive, proactive and problem-solving attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with facility leadership to promote a strong safety culture and reach zero incidents.
  • Adapt and promote lean manufacturing principles.
  • Active participant in the Elimination of Waste program.
  • Support company goals and report monthly progress.
  • Maintain 5S standards in production areas.
  • Assign work and build team member capability.
  • Create a conducive environment for completing tasks.
  • Maintain and enforce safety standards on the plant floor.
  • Ensure production requirements are met and policies followed.
  • Use problem solving and root cause analysis for corrective actions.
  • Oversee supervision documentation (timekeeping, production reporting).
  • Develop and implement effective training programs.
  • Assist with cycle counting of inventory.
  • Maintain production equipment with Maintenance team.
  • Other duties as required.

Job description

  • Partner with the facility leadership team in building and maintaining a strong safety culture with the intent of reaching a zero incidents state.
  • Adapt and promote lean manufacturing principals.
  • Active participant in the Elimination of Waste program.
  • Support the Company’s Goals and Objectives, including reporting monthly progress.
  • Keep production areas in ideal state to meet and or exceed 5S standards.
  • Assign work responsibilities to employees.
  • Build team member capability.
  • Create a conducive work environment for employees to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks.
  • Maintain and enforce required safety standards on plant floor.
  • Ensure that production requirements are satisfied.
  • Ensure that Company policies and procedures and the collective agreement are adhered to by employees.
  • Use strong Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis to take corrective actions.
  • Execute administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents (e.g., timekeeping, production reporting, etc.
  • Quality requirements: Authorized to make decisions concerning quality issues.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs for new team members and recurring training for previously qualified personnel consistent with departmental objectives.
  • Assists with on-going cycle counting inventory of supplier products and finished goods materials
  • Maintain production equipment and machinery in proper operating condition through utilization of the Maintenance and Tooling departments.
  • Other duties required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • 5 plus years of experience in a face paced manufacturing environment, with strong preference given to automotive experience.
  • Experience managing people is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for interaction with the workforce, its suppliers and customers.
  • Must be able to read a blueprint
  • Must be familiar with using a CMM.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in the use of Kronos or a similar timekeeping system.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift and periodic weekend overtime.
  • Must have a positive, proactive, and problem-solving attitude.
