Job summary

TESCO in Bristol, PA is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a shop-floor team in manufacturing components for AMI and related electrical equipment. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and productivity, with a need for strong technical background and proven people management experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience in metering or related electrical systems, familiarity with OSHA standards, and exposure to lean principles.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience directly supervising or leading a team in a production environment.
  • Strong technical/mechanical aptitude; knowledge of metering components or related systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and manufacturing best practices.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt or equivalent) preferred.
  • Familiarity with ESD handling protocols for sensitive electronics.
  • Proven experience leading diverse technical teams in a production facility.
  • Infor ERP experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide training and development to maintain technical certifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage staffing, and address employee relations.
  • Foster communication between production, quality, and engineering to drive continuous improvement.
  • Offer hands-on guidance on production processes, equipment, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Monitor schedules and adjust staffing/workflow to meet deadlines.

TESCO is seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a team on the shop floor. This role is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of manufacturing operations producing components and assemblies for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and related electric utility products, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity goals are met. The ideal candidate combines a strong technical background, ideally with knowledge of metering, AMI systems, or related electrical equipment, and has proven experience managing people in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development

  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily activities of production employees to meet output, quality, and delivery goals.
  • Manage training and development needs to ensure the team maintains required technical certifications and safety standards.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage staffing levels, and handle employee relations or disciplinary actions.
  • Build a culture of accountability, integrity, safety, and continuous improvement by fostering strong communication between production, quality and engineering.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance on production processes, equipment, and troubleshooting, including soldering and electrical components and assemblies.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, equipment malfunctions, and process bottlenecks.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust staffing/workflow as needed to meet deadlines.

Compliance and Safety

  • Enforce safety policies and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards, ESD-safe requirements, OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, and quality metrics.
  • Ensure proper use of tools, machinery, and materials in accordance with company procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, associate's degree preferred (electrical, electronics, or metering-related field a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience directly supervising or leading a team in a production environment.
  • Strong technical/mechanical aptitude; knowledge of metering products, components, or systems strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and manufacturing best practices.
  • Certified in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma (Green Belt or equivalent) preferred. Experience applying lean manufacturing principles (5S, continuous improvement, waste reduction) in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with ESD (electrostatic discharge) handling protocols and safe practices for sensitive electronic components.
  • Proven experience leading diverse technical teams in a production facility with varying levels of seniority and expertise.
  • Proficiency with basic computer systems, Infor ERP experience strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment (noise, machinery, varying temperatures).
