Job summary

WestRock Company in Battle Creek, MI, is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Paper Department to manage safety, reliability, cost, quality, and productivity on a fixed night shift. You will report to the Operations leadership and help drive a 24/7 operation with a focus on engagement and continuous improvement.

The role requires 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, with Paper Mill exposure preferred, and typically involves a 12-hour schedule with 4 days on/off.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Paper Mill experience preferred.
  • Engineering or Paper Science degree preferred.
  • Process Engineering experience a plus.
  • Computer skills include Microsoft Office, PI ProcessBook, JD Edwards, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Administers and models safety, participating in the Mill's safety programs.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental rules and policies.
  • Makes sound decisions and communicates clear instructions to drive excellence.
  • Maintains SOPs and troubleshooting guides for the team.
  • Engages and develops self-directed teams to achieve manufacturing goals.
  • Communicates across departments to ensure 24/7 operations in Battle Creek.

Position: Production Supervisor
Job Code: MOPOM2 + Supv, Mfg Ops
Location: Battle Creek, MI
The Opportunity

The Production Supervisor for the Paper Department has primary responsibility for managing the safety, reliability, cost, quality, productivity, and employee engagement in a goal-oriented environment. They also have a secondary responsibility to effectively communicate with other departments and shifts to ensure effective 24/7 operations of the Battle Creek Mill. This position is a salaried-exempt role and will report to the Operations Assistant Superintendent.

  • Administers and model's safety in designated area of responsibility; participates in and supports the safety programs for the Mill; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable OSHA and Mill safety rules.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental rules and policies.
  • Makes sound decisions and communicates clear instructions, driving excellence within the process.
  • Ensures systems and structures are fully understood and used by the team (includes maintaining current standard operating procedures and troubleshooting guides are correct)

What you need to succeed
  • 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Paper Mill experience preferred
  • Engineering or Paper Science degree preferred
  • Process Engineering experience a plus
  • Computer working knowledge such as Microsoft Office Suite, PI Processbook, JD Edwards, etc.
  • This opening is for a fixed night shift. This is not a rotating position. Ability to work a 12-hour schedule, 4 days on, 4 days off. Start/stop at 7am/7pm.
