Job summary

Specialty Granules LLC is seeking a Production Supervisor to safely and economically produce roofing granules while driving continuous improvement. You will lead, develop, and coach a team, manage costs, and ensure production aligns with the plan.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, knowledge of Lean tools, and strong problem-solving abilities. This on-site role emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork for operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Supervisory experience in mining or manufacturing operations.
• Understanding of MSHA standards and safety leadership.
• Experience with continuous improvement and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead production personnel to meet safety, quality, and production goals.
• Schedule manpower and production plans; manage costs and downtime.
• Develop skills of direct reports and provide coaching and reviews.
• Document SOPs, reports, and maintain accurate data records.
• Communicate maintenance needs and ensure follow-up.

Company Introduction:Over 90 years of quality products and superior service.Job Summary:Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor is responsible for safely and economically producing quality roofing granules while driving a continuous improvement culture within their work group. This role involves leading, managing, and developing the work skills of employees, and managing costs to produce the required quantity and quality of granules on-time and according to the production plan.Essential DutiesEnsure safety, quality, production, and housekeeping standards are met at all times.Conduct contractor safety inspections per SGI policy.Lead and manage assigned production personnel to safely meet/exceed all manufacturing goals.Develop and improve assigned production personnel skills in preparation for future career opportunities.Know and understand all product specifications.Clearly understand the process and equipment locations.Conduct root cause analysis to identify and correct the root causes of events.Accurately and timely prepare required reports and maintain accurate data and other records as required.Schedule/plan manpower and production schedules.Effectively communicate maintenance needs to subordinates/team members and ensure follow-up to confirm maintenance was performed effectively.Notify management of downtime with clear/detailed explanation of issues as required.Write clearly defined work orders and develop SOP’s for the department.Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings using Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement, and problem-solving techniques.Articulate and document site goals and objectives (as needed).Perform employee reviews with coaching and disciplinary action where needed.Provide training to direct reports for safety, SOP’s, and plant equipment.CompetenciesSafety LeadershipCommunicationDecision MakingPositive ApproachCreating a Culture of TrustEmotional Intelligence EssentialsCoachingAdaptabilityQualifications RequiredH.S.
