Pilgrim’s is seeking a Production Superintendent – Dark Meat to lead the production/processing supervisors on a single shift, ensuring cost-effective, on-time manufacture of quality pet food products.

The ideal candidate brings 2+ years in a pet food facility with supervisory experience, strong knowledge of USDA regulations, and proven leadership in achieving schedules, quality, and productivity while managing costs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of DIRECTLY RELATED experience in a pet food facility.
• 3-5 years of supervisory training experience; preferred.
• Knowledge of USDA regulations.
• Strong diplomacy and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs production operations and personnel to meet standards and control costs.
• Establishes shift schedules and material requisition; manages equipment maintenance.
• Coordinates with other plant functions to support output and quality.
• Selects, trains, and motivates production labor to meet schedules at optimum productivity and cost.
• Recommends improvements in production flow or methods.
• Ensures methods to eliminate problems and improve product quality.
• Counsels supervisors on performance and efficiency.
• Recommends modifications to machines to improve production.

Production Superintendent – Dark Meat

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position directs the production/processing supervisors across several departments on a single shift to assure cost-effective, on-time manufacture of quality products in our pet food facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Directs production operations and personnel to meet established production and quality control standards, to control budget and costs, and to provide data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products produced.
• Establishes short-term activities directed toward production continuity and balance such as shift schedules, ensuring requisition of materials, machine loading, grievance resolution, and equipment maintenance.
• Coordinates and integrates with other plant function areas to ensure support in attaining output, productivity, and quality.
• Selects, organizes, trains, and motivates production labor force to ensure consistent attainment of production schedules at optimum productivity and cost levels.
• Recommends improvements in production flow or methods.
• Ensures effective use of operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and to improve product quality.
• Counsels supervisors as needed on job performance and departmental efficiencies.
• Recommends modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

EXPERIENCE

• Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of DIRECTLY RELATED experience in a pet food facility
• 3-5 years of supervisory training experience; preferred.
• Knowledge of USDA regulations
• Strong diplomacy and communication skills

EDUCATION

High School Diploma (GED) required. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
