Job summary

CAE USA is seeking a Production Specialist to develop and deliver courseware from initial design through final deliverables using ISD processes. You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to ensure quality, clarity, and visual standards across training materials.

The role involves designing and improving learning tools, editing content for grammar and visual effectiveness, and supporting or leading trial instruction and evaluations of updated courseware.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years producing interactive course materials or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with systematic curriculum development.
  • Experience with Learning Content Management Systems; Outstart Evolution preferred.
  • Experience designing self-paced, interactive instructional content.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible.

Summary

The Production Specialist is responsible for producing various levels of technical courseware from initial design through final deliverables using established Instructional Systems Design (ISD) processes. This role interprets and communicates program guidelines for instructional content development, collaborates with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and ensures courseware meets quality, clarity, and visual standards. The Production Specialist also designs and improves learning tools and development processes, edits and formats training materials, conducts peer and editorial reviews, and participates in trial instruction or evaluations of updated or newly created courseware.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Apply established instructional design processes across a comprehensive curriculum.
  • Analyze training needs assessments and support development of tasks and instructional products aligned with training requirements.
  • Design, refine, and improve learning tools, templates, and development processes.
  • Prioritize project tasks to meet established milestones.
  • Apply ISD principles to ensure alignment with instructional goals and objectives.
  • Use common illustration design software to create and edit graphics and digital photographs for integration into presentations or web pages.
  • Rewrite or edit training materials to ensure proper grammar, clarity, and visual effectiveness while preserving original technical intent.
  • Conduct peer reviews of courseware to confirm compliance with established quality standards.
  • Review materials and graphics to ensure correct content, terminology, and formatting.
  • Create 2-D and 3-D graphics for integration into computer-based interactive courseware.
  • Consult with customers on performance improvement strategies and instructional approaches.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure instructional methods and sequencing follow approved design guidelines.
  • Perform final editorial review and support or lead trial instruction and evaluation of modified courseware.
  • Coordinate with SMEs to produce static and interactive course materials for classroom and simulator instruction.
  • Use industry-standard software to format technical documents, integrate supporting graphics, and prepare materials for classroom distribution.
  • Support preparation of documentation and presentations for Courseware Configuration Working Groups.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by tracking courseware issues and assisting with root-cause analysis.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience producing interactive course materials or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with systematic approaches to curriculum development.
  • Experience with Learning Content Management Systems; experience with Outstart Evolution® preferred.
  • Experience designing and creating self-paced, interactive instructional content.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
Preferred Skills
  • Previous experience developing aviation-related training products.
  • Basic proficiency in HTML5.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
  • Ability to deliver clear oral presentations to management and customers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime or flexible shifts as required.
  • Understanding of military protocols and customs.
Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a professional office environment using standard computer and communication equipment.

Work may occasionally occur near training system devices, which can involve exposure to extreme temperatures, airborne particles, or loud noise.

Domestic and international travel may be required to support training system activities or courseware evaluations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, or access simulator and cockpit training environments.
  • Ability to stoop , bend, or crawl on or under machinery when supporting courseware evaluation activities.
  • Ability to detect noises, odors, or environmental signals relevant to simulator or equipment performance.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods to create, edit, and review instructional content.
