Job description

Location: Manhattan Work Arrangement: On-SiteEmployment Type: Full-timeCompensation: $75,000 - $125,000 per year

Allura Imports is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production & Sourcing Manager to oversee international sourcing and the full apparel production cycle, from prototype development and order placement through manufacturing and final delivery.

This role requires someone who combines strong manufacturing knowledge with effective cost negotiation, detailed production planning, and consistent factory follow-up. You will work closely with Design, Sales, international factories, and major private-label retail customers to deliver products that meet target costs, quality standards, and delivery commitments.

The ideal candidate is comfortable managing high-volume programs, resolving production challenges, and holding vendors accountable while building strong, long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end production: Oversee prototype development, order placement, manufacturing, and final delivery across a large, diverse SKU portfolio, ensuring accuracy and accountability at every stage.
  • Lead international sourcing and vendor management: Manage production across factories in China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Egypt. Develop and maintain strong relationships with factories, vendors, and suppliers, and identify new sourcing opportunities as needed.
  • Negotiate costs and evaluate sourcing options: Negotiate product costs and cross-source between factories to secure the best combination of price, quality, capacity, and delivery. Evaluate alternatives and recommend solutions that meet product and customer requirements.
  • Own production schedules and delivery performance: Create and maintain detailed production schedules, track key milestones, and follow up closely with factories. Identify potential delays early and drive corrective action to protect delivery commitments.
  • Monitor quality and resolve production issues: Track production progress and quality throughout manufacturing. Address factory challenges proactively and ensure finished goods meet approved specifications and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Design and Sales: Resolve development and production challenges while maintaining the original product vision, target cost, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
  • Review tech packs and specifications: Identify construction, material, costing, or manufacturing concerns before they affect production. Coordinate necessary revisions with Design and ensure factories receive clear, accurate specifications.
  • Manage private-label retail requirements: Work directly with major retail customers to manage account-specific production, quality, packaging, and delivery requirements.
  • Travel internationally as needed: Visit factories to oversee production, resolve issues, evaluate and develop new vendors, and strengthen supplier relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial experience in apparel production, sourcing, and international vendor management, with a proven ability to manage programs from development through delivery.
  • Demonstrated success managing high-volume production and a large number of SKUs simultaneously, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong working knowledge of apparel manufacturing, garment construction, costing, quality control, tech packs, product specifications, and production timelines.
  • Experience working directly with international factories, particularly in Asia and other major apparel-producing regions. Experience in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, or China is highly relevant.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to resolve issues decisively and maintain productive relationships across teams and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to factories as needed.
  • Strongly preferred: Experience managing private-label programs for Walmart, Family Dollar, or comparable major retailers, including their production, quality, packaging, and delivery requirements.
