Job summary

PPG is seeking a Production Shift Supervisor to lead hourly union operators in a chemical-processing environment. The role focuses on safety, quality, scheduling, and line efficiency while guiding teams through TPM initiatives and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate has a manufacturing supervision background, strong leadership, and familiarity with lean methods, 6S, and labor relations. This position includes coordination with the Production Team and site leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field required.
• Understanding of safety protocols and quality control measures.
• Knowledge of production scheduling and resource management.
• Experience managing processes and implementing process changes.
• Experience with Lean Methodology and 6S practices.
• Demonstrated leadership including mentoring and accountability.
• Experience in a union environment.

Responsibilities

• Directs hourly production employees to safely and efficiently operate the plant daily within contract terms.
• Responds to quality, safety and environmental incidents with timely reporting.
• Ensures proper staffing for safe operation of reactor systems and material movement.
• Maintains housekeeping initiatives and audits; participates in TPM activities.
• Escalates safety, quality and production concerns promptly.
• Participates in site leadership meetings and Tier 3 reviews.
• Collaborates with Operations Manager and Continuous Improvement Manager on priorities.
