Job Description & Requirements
We are hiring a Production Shift Manager (Night Shift) to effectively communicate, develop, implement, and execute the daily, weekly and monthly production needs as set forth by the Operations Managers This includes operating the facility in a safe and efficient manner on the shift assigned, the appraisal and development of direct reports as well as the implementation of various programs such as Competency Model Development, SEMS, SAP, Process Safety Management, Continuous Improvement, Preventive Maintenance, GMP’s, Food Safety, Government Regulations and Policies. The Shift Manager is also responsible for assisting in prioritizing any maintenance or I/E work required. This shift generally runs from 7pm - 7am.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Supervise Direct Reports Leading and coaching direct reports.
- Communicate and coordinate production requirements for assigned shift.
- Conduct meetings to inform, coach, and investigate.
- Enforce all company policies, procedures, and Union contractual obligations.
- Analyze and prioritize equipment repair.
- Manage all required training within the P&S Plant.
- Document necessary Monitoring and enforcement of all required programs (sanitation, lubrication, chemical, flour receiving, etc).
- Conduct bi‑weekly cycle counts.
- Monitor chemical inventories, routinely communicate with purchasing to ensure supply.
- Compile, complete and present necessary information and paperwork for the shift report.
- Compile data for SAP documentation and ensure SAP information is entered on time.
- Review SAP information and make corrections as needed.
- Create work schedules and review and approve overtime for direct reports.
- Communicate with outside agencies as necessary (releases, spills, etc).
- Compile data for daily Production Reports; ensure accuracy and make corrections as needed.
- Maximize Throughput and Efficiency by analyzing production processes to maximize quality throughput.
- Develop process improvements and assist with implementation.
- Forecast and manage various cleaning in place (CIP) necessities based upon established equipment performance to maximize efficiency.
- Trouble‑shoot equipment processes.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and protect Waste Water Treatment Plant and Modified Starch buildings and equipment.
- Directly manage crews of 10‑15 hourly employees to achieve maximum production of top‑quality products in a safe and efficient manner.
- Indirectly responsible for managing up to 40‑50 employees at any given time.
- Plan and organize daily shift activities, determining manpower requirements and utilization necessary to meet and/or exceed desired goals.
- Schedule hourly employees.
- Conduct annual detailed performance reviews with hourly employees to emphasize required standards for various jobs.
- Write and maintain performance reviews in employees’ personnel files.
- Counsel subordinates, set objectives for crew, and communicate company plans, objectives, and expectations to hourly employees.
- Issue instructions and directions, ensuring resources are available to accomplish them.
- Maintain good communication skills and ability to achieve results through others.
- Train management and hourly employees on equipment operation and process.
- Accountable for continuous improvement of plant performance, safety, environmental and product quality objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or engineering, or 5‑10 years related experience.
- CPR, First Aid, SEMS, Process Safety Management experience, HAACP, BRC, RCA, GMP, Continuous Improvement, Food Safety, Incident Commander, SAP.
- 3‑5 years of manufacturing experience.
- Good interpersonal communication skills, problem resolution, strong technical abilities, strong computer abilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Adaptability.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Lifting up to 50 lbs to shoulder height occasionally.
- Physical mobility: extensive walking, climbing, stairs, kneeling, stooping, sitting up to 100% of working hours.
- Standing for extended periods of time; occasionally needs to stand for long periods, up to 6 hours.
- Physical dexterity: use of phone, fax, computer, and mechanical tools that require precision (welding, cutting, wrenches, lathes, etc.).
- Occasional driving of a vehicle.
- Sensory requirements: hearing, listening, smelling, touching, speaking, tasting, seeing, distinguishing colors up to 100% of working hours.
- Stationary working at a computer terminal or keyboard up to 6 hours per day.
- May be exposed to high heat and cold up to 100% of working hours.
