Job description

MISSION:

To maintain accurate inventory of parts arriving and being held in the shipping area and coordinate workloads of shipping personnel. To coordinate shipments using in-process lot status reports and customer shipping schedules, ensuring timely delivery to customers. LSBO Machine Shop only - schedules machine use based on shipping dates and interfaces with production facilities to schedule parts.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  1. Inventory
  2. Objective: Maintain accurate inventory of all parts in the shipping area.

    Typical Activities:

  3. Maintain computerized inventory of all parts in the shipping area.
  4. Log all outgoing shipments in the inventory system.
  5. Initiate paperwork to remove parts from inventory to stock crib.
  6. Calculate and report daily inbound and shipped dollar figures.
  7. Make adjustments to the computerized inventory system as needed to ensure accuracy.
  8. Handle hazardous waste if required.
  1. Shipping Coordination
  2. Objective: Schedule and coordinate shipments accurately and timely.

    Typical Activities:

  3. Schedule shipping area clerical, marking, and packing activities, ensuring effective workload management, including end-of-month scheduling.
  4. Order inspection certification paperwork, ensuring proper documentation accompanies parts.
  5. Apply castings in inventory to scheduled and blanket customer purchase orders.
  6. Maintain export licensing logbook.
  7. Route all shipments (air, truck, prepaid, collect) per instructions and customer specifications; maintain routing logbook.
  8. Communicate daily with planning, engineering, operations, and freight carriers to ensure efficient, timely shipments.
  9. Order supplies for the shipping area, including pallets, packing materials, and office supplies.
  10. Schedule shipments to vendors for outside processing.
  1. Production Scheduling
  2. Objective: Schedule parts through machine facilities and supply the supervisor with production forecast needs.

    Typical Activities:

  3. Schedule machines daily for each shift based on shipping requirements, interfacing with planning and engineering.
  4. Identify potential capacity issues for the supervisor.
  5. Collaborate with the supervisor to determine hours for outside sourcing by part number.
  6. Provide the Tool Crib supervisor with the production schedule by part number.
  7. Supply development parts list and new program details; coordinate fixture requirements; work with supervisor on staffing, machine, and space forecasts.
SAFETY:

Objective: Uphold safe work practices and responsibilities.

Typical Activities:

  • Follow all plant and department safety rules.
  • Operate all equipment and tools safely.
  • Identify and report safety concerns.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
  • TRAINING:
    • On-the-job training provided.
    • Hazardous Waste Management Training may be required.
    ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Previous shipping experience required; manufacturing shipping experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of shipping functions.
    • Basic understanding of inventory systems, preferably computerized.
    • Computer experience desirable.
    • Ability to read and follow instructions and regulations.
    • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and work with others.
    • Ability to work in challenging conditions, including exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes.
    MAJOR PLANT DIFFERENCES:
    • LSBO Machine Facility - experience in machining and basic knowledge of machining production preferred.
