RR Donnelley & Sons is hiring a Scheduler in Illinois to plan and coordinate production runs across Prepress, Press, and Bindery/Finishing. You will review daily schedules, adjust forecasts, and ensure on-time delivery to customers.

Collaborate with planning and manufacturing teams, produce daily reports, and help allocate staffing and materials. Strong organization and clear communication are essential in our manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant administrative/operational support in manufacturing operations or office environment.
  • Ability to apply policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with deadline management and workload prioritization.
  • EPS Platform experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily/weekly production schedules and sequence/load equipment in Prepress, Press, or Bindery/Finishing.
  • Optimize workflow by matching equipment capabilities to customer work specifications.
  • Ensure prerequisites (preflight, plating, materials) are in place to start jobs.
  • Coordinate with departments to ensure jobs can run.
  • Review and adjust daily production output and schedules as needed.
  • Engage with Planners or management to resolve issues and reallocate work.
  • Reschedule work across slots/equipment for unplanned events.
  • Provide guidance or templates for other Schedulers as needed.
  • Provide daily reports to manufacturing ensuring staffing and materials align with forecasts.
  • Verify materials, staffing, and logistics are ready for scheduled runs.
  • Coordinate with vendors/internal resources delivering components to meet run times.
  • Assist with long-term planning and facility work plans.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Description

Schedule work to run on manufacturing equipment for one or more of the following areas: Prepress, Press, Bindery/Finishing. Review daily production output and make adjustments/updates to daily/weekly forecasted schedules. Move work around as needed while maintaining customer delivery dates. Provide daily reports/updates that are used by the production departments to run work and plan staffing, materials etc.

Responsibilities
  • Review daily/weekly production schedules and sequence/load equipment to run primarily in one/or more of the following areas: Prepress, Press, Bindery/Finishing.
  • Optimize workflow by matching the equipment capabilities closely to the specification of the customer work. Typically plan for equipment and jobs that are more complex in nature.
  • Ensure that preceding requirements needed to begin running a job such as the preflight of the customer files, plating, raw materials, components are in place.
  • Coordinate with the appropriate departments to ensure jobs will be able to run.
  • Review daily production output and make adjustments/updates to daily/weekly schedules.
  • May engage with Planners or management when issues arise and work needs to be moved around to resolve issues.
  • Re-schedule work to different slots/equipment in the event of unplanned situations such as equipment failures, missing components or raw materials etc.
  • May provide guidance or templates for other Schedulers to use/reference. May plan for multiple departments or equipment groups.
  • Provide daily reports/updates to manufacturing operations so materials and staffing are coordinated with the forecasted workloads and that sales/customer service are updated on customer projects.
  • Verify that materials, staffing, and logistics are in place in time for scheduled production runs.
  • Coordinate with vendors and/or internal resources producing components to ensure that delivery will meet the scheduled run time for the customer project.
  • May perform tasks related to long term planning and building of facility work plans.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • May possess additional education certification in this level.
  • Requires excellent knowledge of functional area(s) related to the job or good knowledge related to a professional field of work.
  • Able to consistently apply applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and program objectives when carrying out the duties of the job.
  • May provide oversight of work conducted by junior level staff and/or review/audit work for accuracy.
  • Must have advanced knowledge of technology to include computers and software programs such as MS Office or MAC word processing, spreadsheets or other programs specific to the job in order to complete job duties successfully.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively across departments when completing assignments.
  • Must have strong organizational skills with ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload and make adjustment to meet business needs.
  • Additional job knowledge, skills, and/or abilities specific to a department may be listed on the staffing requisition.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent with 5 years of relevant administrative/operational support in manufacturing operations or office environment directly related to the duties of the job.
  • EPS Platform experience preferred.

RRD's current salary range for this role is $55,700 to$83,600 / year. The salary range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future.At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
