Job summary

Kaiser Aluminum is seeking a Production Scheduler to manage production demand and create schedules across multiple lines. You will improve material flow and ensure on-time delivery to internal and external customers, while coordinating with supervisors and teams to resolve scheduling issues.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Supply Chain/Logistics and at least five years in production planning with ERP/Planning software experience. Automotive and metal industry knowledge is preferred.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing software.
  • Five years of production planning and logistics experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Experience in automotive or metal industries is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Scheduler is responsible to manage the production demand through manufacturing from establishing customer commitment date to order fulfillment. The Scheduler will be directly responsible for all Planning and Scheduling activities on a daily basis.


The primary goal of this position is to create a production schedule for every production line and to improve the overall material flow and to ensure on-time delivery to the customer (internal and external) while improving communication, and implementing continuous improvement activities.


The Production Scheduler essential functions include:

  • Perform planning for assigned products to optimize inventory and meet production goals.
  • Analyze and review short and long term capacity planning.
  • Confer with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules; alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions with the approval of the direct supervisor.
  • Prepare reports and create work orders.
  • Plan sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Plan, monitor, and facilitate repairs to system problems.
Requirements

Requirements
Experience:

  • At least five (5) years previous production planning and logistics experience.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing software.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of automotive and metal industry processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Shipping and Receiving processes and procedures strongly preferred.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus or specialization in Supply Chain/Logistics
  • ERP/Planning software
  • Mining & Metals
