MERCY COLLEGE is seeking an experienced Production Schedule Planner to join our Operations team onsite. The role coordinates production schedules, customer orders, inventory, suppliers, and delivery timelines in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have direct production scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting and be comfortable partnering with production, sales, suppliers, and management to keep orders moving on schedule.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Production Schedule Planner to support a fast-paced Operations team. This is a high-visibility, hands-on position responsible for coordinating production schedules, customer orders, inventory requirements, suppliers, and delivery timelines.

Direct production scheduling experience is required. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a manufacturing or production environment and be comfortable partnering closely with production, sales, suppliers, and management to keep orders moving according to schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Create PO suggestions and raise production jobs based on demand, usage, and forecasts
• Schedule customer orders according to production requirements, delivery dates, and lead times
• Generate and distribute daily shop orders to the production floor
• Work closely with production teams regarding priorities, timelines, and customer orders
• Monitor production schedules and proactively identify potential delays or shortfalls
• Develop mitigation plans to help ensure customer commitments and monthly revenue goals are met
• Expedite orders and materials with outside suppliers
• Respond to sales inquiries regarding date changes, production updates, cancellations, and order status
• Review incoming custom orders from suppliers for quantity, color, artwork, and PO accuracy
• Manage inventory and stock requests
• Build strong supplier relationships to support pricing and delivery schedules
• Assist with identifying and establishing new suppliers when necessary
• Keep management informed of daily and weekly issues, priorities, reports, and operational needs
• Work independently while coordinating across multiple departments in a fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications

• Direct production scheduling/planning experience is required
• Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, or similar environment
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams
• Strong understanding of production timelines, order requirements, inventory, and lead times
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to reconcile and manage large amounts of project and order information
• Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Proactive, dependable, assertive, adaptable, and self-motivated
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Four-year college degree preferred

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is an onsite, hands-on position that combines office-based planning with regular interaction with the production and warehouse teams. Candidates should be comfortable walking through the warehouse frequently to review inventory and production needs.

The position may occasionally require lifting approximately 10–15 pounds.
