Job summary

Cubiq Recruitment is seeking an experienced robotics software engineer in Atlanta, on-site preferred with hybrid consideration for exceptional candidates. You will own both perception and navigation systems on production robots used in live freight facilities, with outputs deployed alongside people and cargo.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, testing, and integration of LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, and ROS/ROS2, with Python and C++ relied upon daily.

Qualifications

5+ years building perception or navigation systems for physical robots.
Strong C++ and Python.
Deep LiDAR processing experience — filtering, clustering, registration, SLAM.
Camera-based perception experience.
Production ROS or ROS2 experience.
Sensor calibration experience — intrinsic, extrinsic, multi-sensor.
Familiarity with PyTorch or TensorFlow for perception tasks.
Track record shipping software to real robots in real environments — not simulation only.

Responsibilities

Design the perception pipeline: detection, segmentation, localisation, mapping.
Build path planning and motion control (PID, MPC, LQR).
Integrate and calibrate LiDAR, depth cameras, and IMUs on production platforms.
Develop point cloud processing, filtering, clustering, and SLAM registration.
Create and maintain datasets for model training, validation, and regression testing.
Debug perception and control failures on deployed robots using logs and on-site tests.
Collaborate with hardware and controls teams to align outputs with downstream requirements.
