Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform raw material, WIP and final batch tests and investigations into nonconformances with direction from Quality Engineering Manager.
• Understand, interpret, and document design requirements from design teams during new product introduction.
• Assist in creating, implementing, and executing the quality plan.
• Gather test data, analyze with direction, and prepare written reports.
• Develop and maintain software and hardware for data acquisition systems.
• Develop, fabricate, and maintain test fixtures and machinery.
• Maintain records for test, design, and inspection documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized quality lab and fixtures.

Job Location: SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84124

Responsibilities

• Assists in the creation of testing and Inspection models for analysis of new product development and current production raw materials, materials in process, and finished products.
• Coordinates with inspection resources to ensure necessary inspection and testing of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products for new current production are completed and reviewed in a timely manner.
• During the design and development of new product, conducts statistical and graphical analysis of test data and determines product and component strength ratings while taking into consideration typical use, misuse and abuse scenarios.
• Uses and maintains software and hardware necessary to complete inspection and testing required by production quality control plans.
• Assists in the fabrication and development of test and inspection fixtures for production testing and inspection.
• Collect and record user feedback and provide information to design team in organized way.
• Maintains quality records systems for test, design, and product rating documents.
• Helps to drive investigations, as necessary, as it pertains to current product proposed design changes, material qualifications or manufacturing deviations

Education

• Required: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials Science or similar)
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in one of above with coursework in modern manufacturing methods and controls

Work Experience

• Required: Zero to three years engineering experience; Internships or major class work focused on fundamentals of engineering, testing materials & statistical analysis.
• Preferred: 2 years post-graduate experience in materials testing, statistical analysis, design and theory of mechanical systems, data acquisition systems, or measurement methods.

Skills and general experience

• General knowledge of strength of materials, statistics, data acquisition systems, and failure analysis.
• General database, word processing, 3D modeling, controls software, and spreadsheet knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and procedures.
• Ability to collect and present data, identify trends, and make written & verbal reports on conclusions.
• Experience communicating and collaborating with offsite and remote team members

Preferred

• Experience with working within an ISO 9001 certified quality management system.
• Proficiency assembling and using test fixtures.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain both mechanical and electronics based testing equipment
• Ability to design test fixtures and relevant test procedures
• possess demonstrated ability to field test gear and provide immediate feedback

Required Licenses

• Candidates must be eligible for a passport or other documentation necessary to travel internationally from the United States

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General physical requirements: Light work; occasional Medium to Heavy work. Some overseas travel to OEM factories may be required.

Visual acuity requirements: Close vision, Color Vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, Ability to adjust focus.

Motion and sensory requirements: Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, And Talking.

Physical working conditions: Oils, inside atmosphere, Hazards

Essential Functions

1. Perform raw material, work-in-process and final batch tests and inspections and complete investigations into nonconformances with direction from the Quality Engineering Manager

6. Develop, fabricate, and maintain test and inspection fixtures and machinery as directed.
7. Maintain a records system for test, design, and inspection documentation.
8. Responsible for helping to maintain Quality test lab, equipment & fixtures in a clean, neat and organized manner.
9. Create and maintain testing instructions, test equipment operating instructions and inspection documentation.
