Job summary

Magna Electronics in Maryland is seeking a seasoned Quality Engineer to plan and support total quality programs and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

You will lead cross-functional teams, implement measurements, and ensure adherence to IATF16949 standards while partnering with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of quality experience in manufacturing.
  • Minimum 5–7 years diverse professional experience in manufacturing with strategic decision making.
  • Ability to lead multiple large projects and communicate at all levels within the organization.
  • Experience with APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, GD&T and flow diagrams.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 processes and statistical methods.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality engineering support to ensure customer issues are championed for quick, accurate resolution and satisfaction.
  • Plans, supports, and implements total quality programs including APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA and PPAP.
  • Defines scope, organizes, and directs technical work for quality engineering on new and existing programs.
  • Ensures quality systems meet or exceed IATF16949 standards within the division.
  • Investigates and solves manufacturing problems using formal problem-solving tools.

Designs, specifies, and installs quality control sampling systems, testing mechanisms, and equipment. Able to represent the company in a professional manner with customers and suppliers.Ability to thoroughly research, recommend, and oversee implementation of new products, materials, processes, etc. and present information.Prior experience with IATF 16949 processesKnowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process submissions, Geometric Dimensions & Tolerancing, Flow Diagrams, FMEA’s, Control Plans, Statistics, and fixture development based on part GD&TDemonstrated ability to use basic measurement tools (height gauge, vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, indicator, etc)Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques including 8D, 5 Why, A3.Ability to communicate to all levels of plant personnel with easeGood organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads and directs technical work and departmental efforts related to quality engineering activities for new and existing programs.Responsible to assure that quality systems meet or exceed IATF16949 standards within the division.Plans, supports, and implements total quality programs.
