Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ seeks a Production Planner to coordinate and schedule assembly activities for precision optomechanical devices. You will work with the team to develop production plans, release orders, and monitor capacity.

The role requires strong analytical skills, experience with ERP/MRP systems (Dynamics 365 F&O) and Microsoft Office, plus collaboration across purchasing and production teams. Travel to other Thorlabs locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Process oriented approach to planning, forecasting, and lifecycle programs.
• Experience with complex planning, forecasting, and product lifecycle programs.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, preferably Dynamics 365 F&O and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working with bills of materials and routes.
• Minimum of 3 years in production planning or scheduling in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work for assembly floor under Team Lead using Dynamics 365 F&O to manage demand, supply, and production planning.
• Develop and maintain production plans for assigned product lines.
• Schedule assembly of finished goods and sub-assemblies based on capacity.
• Release production orders to manufacturing based on components and capacity.
• Maintain and update production lead/queue times.
• Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
• Maintain planning data, min stock levels, forecasts, and production parameters.
• Identify shortages, excess inventory, and stock-out risks.
• Determine appropriate production order quantities based on demand and constraints.
• Work with purchasers to expedite critical components; cover duties when needed.
