Summary

Production Planner I: coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between work centers with complete regard for the shop sequences and shipping schedule. Coordinate and secure inventory items based upon inventory levels and parts usage. Follow improvement plans to production processes, methods and controls to maximize productivity of the manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review documents, materials, products, and work processes to maintain completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Review production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements and material priorities.
  • Communicate with department supervisors and other departments’ personnel to evaluate progress and discuss needed changes with Production Planners, creating work orders, work order splits and chain loading to assure no downtime on machinery within the factory.
  • Assist with the revision of production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions.
  • Communicate with vendors and customers to coordinate production and shipping activities.
  • Review and communicate the production schedules to Manufacturing Supervisors.
  • Compile data and information to create various production and customer reports for review by Operations Management.
  • Utilize MRP system to maintain shop floor reporting and accurate records.
  • Support and maintain all company and departmental HSE policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE procedures.
  • Comply with ISO 14001 standards, aspects, directives and impact as related to the HSE policy commitments.
  • Attend all training provided and adhere to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.
  • Bring any known or suspected non‑conformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.
  • Seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.
  • Comply with waste reduction and elimination initiatives specially related with the department and company recycling opportunities and energy efficiencies to elimination of production waste.
  • Work under limited supervision with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years equivalent combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with an MRP system preferred.
  • Basic certification preferred (e.g., APICS Basics).
  • Seeking a college student or graduate studying engineering with purchasing experience and/or BS Engineering.
  • Minimum 1–2 years working experience in a manufacturing environment preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of expeditor or Production Planning I direct experience preferred in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Programming knowledge such as Visual Basic preferred.
Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and follow instructions in oral, written, and basic diagram formats; ability to multi‑task and accomplish different internal and external directives.

Computer Skills

Intermediate knowledge of basic mainframe computer systems and familiarity with presentation, word processing software, electronic mail software, Excel, Access, database systems, and internet software.

Physical Demands

The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods; requires eye‑hand coordination, use of hands and manual dexterity, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 30 pounds. Normal/average eye vision and hearing are required.

Remuneration

Salary: $27.00 – $37.00 per hour.
