Capewell Aerial Systems in South Windsor, CT is seeking a Production Planner and Expeditor to plan, prioritize, and coordinate movement of work, materials, and production documentation to support daily and weekly schedules.

Acting as a central point of coordination between Sales, Production, and Purchasing, this position maintains current visibility into material availability, supplier commitments, and component shortages.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain production schedules and priorities based on customer demand, capacity, material availability, production status, and supplier information.
• Serve as a link between Sales, Production, and Purchasing by tracking material availability, supplier commitments, and shortages that affect the schedule.
• Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve shortages, expedite materials and external processing, and align material requirements with production priorities.
• Interact with production floor management and internal teams to resolve issues and meet daily production requirements.
• Review MRP, inventory levels, open work orders, lead times, and demand signals; release or reschedule work orders as needed.
• Prepare production documents (work instructions, travelers) to support timely release and execution.
• Maintain backlog, WIP, production status, and material availability visibility to foresee impacts on production and delivery.
• Update ERP with schedule changes and communicate to Sales and other stakeholders.
• Assess expedite requests, coordinate recovery actions, and provide status updates.
• Escalate risks and propose recovery actions.
• Participate in production meetings with clear status on orders, constraints, and priorities.
• Support inventory accuracy by coordinating with stockroom and investigating discrepancies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide responsive internal customer service.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow PPE requirements on the shop floor.

POSITION SUMMARY: Plan, prioritize, and coordinate the movement of work, materials, and production documentation to support daily and weekly schedules. Acting as a central point of coordination between Sales, Production, and Purchasing, this position maintains current visibility into material availability, supplier commitments, and component shortages. The Production Planner and Expeditor reviews open backlog, MRP, supplier deliveries, and production status; and follows up on expected arrival dates and delays; and works with internal teams to address constraints so production targets and customer delivery commitments can be achieved.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work closely with Production to monitor and maintain production schedules and priorities based on customer demand, capacity, material availability, production status, and supplier delivery information.
• Serve as a key link between Sales, Production, and Purchasing by monitoring material availability, supplier commitments, component shortages, and other constraints that may affect the production schedule.
• Work with Purchasing and suppliers to resolve shortages, expedite materials and outside processing, and confirm that material requirements support production priorities.
• Interact regularly with production floor management and internal support teams to resolve issues and achieve daily production requirements.
• Review MRP, inventory levels, open work orders, routings, lead times, and demand signals; release, reschedule, or recommend changes to work orders as required.
• Analyze and prepare production documents, including work instructions, travelers, and related documentation, to support timely release and execution of work.
• Maintain a detailed understanding of assigned backlog, work-in-process, production status, and material availability to identify potential impacts to production and customer delivery.
• Update scheduled commit dates and work-order status in the ERP system based on current material availability, production progress, capacity, and supplier delivery information; communicate relevant changes to Sales and other stakeholders.
• Assess the feasibility of expedite requests, coordinate recovery actions with the appropriate teams, and provide timely status updates.
• Escalate significant risks and recommend recovery actions.
• Participate in production meetings and provide clear updates on order status, constraints, priorities, commitments, and corrective actions.
• Support inventory accuracy by coordinating with the stockroom and Inventory Control and investigating discrepancies that affect production.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide responsive internal customer service that supports Company objectives.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area and work cooperatively with other employees to meet department and company goals.
• Use required personal protective equipment on the shop floor, including safety glasses and composite-toe safety shoes.

OTHER DUTIES: Perform additional duties as directed by supervisors or management to support departmental and organizational objectives.
