Abilene Machine in Solomon, KS is seeking a Production Planner to organize schedules, manage material availability, and coordinate work orders across departments to ensure on‑time delivery of agricultural parts.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in production planning or related manufacturing.
  • Experience with ERP systems and inventory management software preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to read BOMs and production schedules.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create, print, and dispatch production work orders for assigned products.
  • Develop and adjust production schedules based on orders, priorities, material availability, and shipping requirements.
  • Monitor production orders and coordinate materials, parts, and assemblies to keep production on schedule.
  • Analyze bills of material (BOMs), production requirements, labor, time, and material costs.
  • Schedule production of finished components for company warehouses.
  • Maintain production records, reports, spreadsheets, work orders, and related documentation.
  • Monitor orders throughout the production cycle and promptly communicate delays, shortages, or other issues to the Production Manager.
  • Oversee production inventory, conduct and coordinate inventory audits, research and resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate inventory records in the ERP system, including stock adjustments, recounts, transfers, and bin locations.
  • Monitor component availability and coordinate with Purchasing to expedite parts and materials needed to maintain production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate ERP data, including bills of material, production information, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate warranty repairs, rework, and scrap decisions with Production and Engineering.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, Sales, Accounting, Resale, vendors, and company leadership to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
  • Walk production areas regularly to monitor progress, answer questions, and ensure procedures are followed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop procedures that improve production efficiency and inventory accuracy.
  • Update Production Supervisors on applicable process and procedure changes.
  • Assist with cost accounting, special projects, and other duties assigned by the Production Manager.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

We are seeking an organized, analytical, and hands‑on Production Planner to join our agricultural parts manufacturing team. The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating production schedules, material availability, work orders, inventory, and communication between Production and other departments to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and delivered on schedule.

This position requires strong attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, Accounting, Resale, vendors, and company leadership to keep production moving and continuously improve processes.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in production planning, inventory control, purchasing, retail/wholesale buying, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of agricultural machinery parts, components, and vendor resources preferred.
  • Experience working with an ERP system and production or inventory management software preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform production, inventory, labor, time, and material calculations.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret bills of material (BOMs), work orders, production schedules, and related documentation.
  • Ability to analyze inventory, production, and order information and make appropriate adjustments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple orders, schedules, and production requirements.
  • Ability to multitask and organize work orders, documentation, and information for timely referral and follow‑up.
