Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Production Planner for the Somerset, NJ area to manage daily work orders, release and schedule manufacturing activity, and coordinate with shop-floor teams to ensure timely completion. The role emphasizes SAP-driven execution and precise data maintenance to support lean manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in manufacturing planning or production control, strong MRP understanding, and ERP experience with SAP, along with proficient Excel usage

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Manufacturing Planning or Production Control.
• Degree in Manufacturing, Operations, or related field.
• Experience building/adjusting production schedules and owning work order execution.
• Strong understanding of MRP outputs as execution signals.
• Hands-on ERP experience with SAP is preferred.
• Ability to make time-sensitive scheduling decisions on the shop floor.

• Support implementation of ECNs and MRB dispositions within active work orders.
• Communicate clear status updates and risks impacting work order completion and schedule adherence.

Job Description

As a Production Planner, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the production process by overseeing work orders, scheduling, and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of MRP outputs as execution signals.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems, with SAP strongly preferred.
• Strong production execution mindset with the ability to make frequent, time-sensitive scheduling decisions.
• Comfortable working directly with Manufacturing Supervisors and Project Managers on the shop floor.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and schedule recovery.
• Detail-oriented with strong ownership of work orders and commitments.
• Clear, concise communicator with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office tools.
• Experience supporting low-volume, long- lead production is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, WIP control, and production flow preferred.
• Experience in complex manufacturing environments such as Capital Equipment, Semiconductor, Medical Device, Aerospace, Industrial Equipment, or Automation Equipment.

Work Environment

This is an onsite role from Monday to Friday. The role involves direct engagement with various departments including Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Procurement. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic and complex manufacturing environment, handling large BOMs and complex assemblies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Somerset, NJ.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $77126.00 - $97693.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
