Job summary

Union Electric Steel Corporation in Burgettstown, PA is seeking a detail-oriented Production Planner to join our Supply Chain Group. The role focuses on setting up production routings in Oracle, building job batches, and aligning melt schedules with customer demand.

Ideal candidates will have strong Excel skills, ERP/MRP experience, and the willingness to work on the plant floor in PPE with occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for scheduling and routing.
• Solid Excel skills and ability to learn a new ERP system.
• Clear communication across all levels of the organization is required.
• Willingness to work on the plant floor in PPE with occasional overtime.
• Experience in manufacturing, scheduling, shipping, or production-office roles, and exposure to ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

• Set up and maintain production routings in Oracle — assign lot numbers, build job batches, and apply orders to the schedule.
• Schedule the weekly melt requirements aligning production capabilities and customer demand.
• Process receiving reports and consumable orders, including requisitions and batch closeout.
• Coordinate material shipments between facilities and outside suppliers and share schedules with affected departments.
• Partner with Production Planning management and plant operations to ensure priorities are understood and followed.
• Learn shipping and receiving processes to backup as needed for that position.
• Troubleshoot job and batch problems with planning, the melt shop, and operations.

Job Summary:

Requirements
