Our Packaging team performs a variety of essential tasks to assist in production in cheese and yogurt plants. Packaging team member responsibilities include activities such as loading fresh products or packaging materials into packaging equipment, operating packaging machines, completing product quality checks, inspecting labels for accuracy, palletizing products and moving pallets, and other related duties.

Packaging Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in the operation of machinery and equipment used in the cheese or yogurt manufacturing processes.
• Loads packaging and food products into manufacturing equipment, onto racks or into totes.
• Operates packaging machinery as required.
• Observes and monitors packaging lines to ensure the smooth flow of operations.
• Conducts regular quality checks and completes quality documentation to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Examines and inspects containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
• Sorts, weighs, and inspects products, verifying and adjusting product weight or measurement to meet specifications.
• Verifies and records product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
• Verifies accuracy and correctness of product identification labels; attaches labels.
• Removes finished packaged items from machine and separates rejected items.
• Assists in managing inventory levels of raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished products to keep packaging lines running smoothly. Reports any shortages or discrepancies to supervisors.
• Assist in equipment setup, changeovers, and maintenance to ensure uninterrupted production/packaging and adheres to all company and quality standards.
• Safely and efficiently moves products and materials within the facility, following proper handling procedures, using electric pallet jacks or similar equipment.
• Adheres to all food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations. (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)
• Adheres to and follows all safety guidelines and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Additional Information: Qualifications / Physical Abilities

• Previous experience operating packaging machinery in a manufacturing or food processing environment is preferred but not required.
• The ability to safely operate electric pallet jacks.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
• Physical stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work as a part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work overtime or extended shifts as needed.
• Employees are required to stand the duration of the shift, with frequent and repetitive bending, stooping, turning, reaching, grasping and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and controls.
• Constantly required to talk and hear.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus naturally or with correction.

Work Environment
