Production Operator/Operations Technician will carry out activities involved in the manufacture of specialty chemicals. Employees must follow ISO and PSM procedures in all phases of production operations. Performs SAP functions in data entry and laboratory analyses as needed. Knowledge of IMDG and 49 CFR dangerous goods certification for shipment of materials is required. Follows established quality standards, company safety standards, and EHS policies at all times.

Operation of reactors includes:

  • Loading and unloading tank wagons and rail cars, both raw materials and finished products
  • Performing blending operations in storage tanks
  • Operating facility's reactors for batch operations
  • Transferring materials between vessels

The order of the essential functions does not reflect a level of importance or priority.

  • Automatic and manual charging, sampling, and controlling reaction and process vessels.
  • Transferring raw materials from rail cars and tank trucks to storage tanks, unloading finished products to tote bins or drums as directed.
  • Handling hazardous materials safely.
  • Recording process data on batch logs, batch records, and inventory control records.
  • Adhering to approved work instructions.
  • Maintaining housekeeping and safe work conditions.
  • Performing general plant maintenance.
  • Accepting responsibility for personal safety and health, performing duties safely and environmentally responsibly, reporting incidents and unsafe conditions, and actively improving safety and environmental practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to handle raw materials and finished products safely.
  • Willingness to wear a full-face respirator or SCBA.
  • Availability to work 12-hour shifts (days or nights), weekends, and holidays.
  • Operator forklift certification or ability to pass certification.
  • Basic math skills and computer knowledge.
  • Physically capable of working under SCBA and full PPE, and handling bags and drums of materials.
