Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Sr Production Equipment Operator for the Altavista, VA site in the Nutrition division. The role involves safely operating high-speed production equipment, maintaining records, and ensuring materials and products are correctly identified.

You will work the night shift (6pm–6:30am) on a rotating schedule and contribute to quality inspections while complying with FDA/OSHA and Abbott policies. Abbott offers comprehensive health benefits and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 6 months manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good math, verbal and written communication skills.
• Some mechanical aptitude preferred.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Work On

• Safely operate, clean and help maintain the production related equipment both complex and standard high-speed production equipment that makes our industry-leading nutrition products
• Maintain accurate and legible records and documentation
• Maintain an adequate supply of materials for the equipment in operation
• Troubleshoot equipment issues
• Ensure that both products and materials are of proper identification, correct codes and expiration dates.
• Perform periodic on-line visual quality inspections and offline quality tests

You’ll be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Shift

This is for the night shift. Example of shift:

Shift Hours: 6pm to 6:30 am, on a rotating basis.

Week One: Mon - On / Tues - On / Weds - Off / Thurs - Off / Fri - On / Sat - On / Sun - On

Week Two: Mon - Off / Tues - Off / Wed - On / Thurs - On / Fri - Off / Sat - Off / Sun - Off

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

• 6 months prior manufacturing experience
• Proficiency in basic math, good verbal and written communication skills

The base pay for this position is
$17.15 – $34.25/hour
