Charter Steel in Saukville, WI, is hiring for a Billet Conditioner (Melting Department) on a 4:30pm–4:30am shift. You will melt, pour, and shape steel while rotating through multiple positions and performing quality checks.

The role offers a 12-hour schedule, a starting wage of $26.50 per hour, and opportunities for overtime, growth, and team-based success. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic math skills, and a teamwork mindset.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; company supports GED completion.
• Basic math skills including counting and simple calculations.
• Team player with good communication and a strong safety mindset.
• Experience with manufacturing or industrial production is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rotate through 12-hour shifts in the Billet Conditioner (Melting Department).
• Use power tools to remove kerf from billets and apply ID tags.
• Mark billets with chalk and place chains/spacer bars between billets.
• Perform quality inspections and operate an overhead crane.
• Walk/stand for long periods; lift up to 35 lbs; follow rotating 5-2-2-5 schedule.

Billet Conditioner (Melting Department) | 4:30pm-4:30am | $26.50/hr

• Rotate through different positions throughout 12-hour shift.
• Use power tools to remove kerf from billets.
• Apply ID tags using a welding torch and mark billets with chalk.
• Place chains and spacer bars between billets
• Perform quality inspections
• Operate an overhead crane
• Frequent walking, standing, push/pull, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Rotating 5-2-2-5 Schedule. 12 hour shifts. 5 nights on, 2 off, 2 on, 5 off!

What You Bring

• A high school diploma or GED (we can help through our FREE GEDWorks program)
• Comfortable with basic math (like counting and simple calculations).
• Team player who works well and communicates with others
• Background in manufacturing or industrial production, assembly, warehouse, welding, construction, metals, steel, or other hands on jobs
• Forklift & Overhead Crane experience is a plus!
• Strong safe work mindset
