Job summary

Unigen Corporation in Newark, California, is seeking a Production Operator – BGA Rework to perform manual touch-up, BGA rework, hand-soldering, rework-SMT and inspection of circuit boards to uphold high quality standards.

You will report to the Production and Warehouse Operations Manager at Unigen HQ, and work onsite in a manufacturing environment. The role requires strong hands-on soldering skills and familiarity with IPC-610/J-STD-001 standards, with opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of practical manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of ESD, board handling, and safety practices including PPE.
• Understanding of components polarity (resistors, capacitors).
• Familiarity with IPC-610 and J-STD-001 soldering standards.
• Knowledge of latest revision-class 3 workmanship criteria is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform BGA and non-BGA component rework with detailed understanding of rework steps.
• Operate rework equipment for BGA soldering and through-hole rework.
• Read and follow BOM and rework instructions; install jumper wires per IPC.
• Perform SMT rework and hand soldering on various board types.
• Ensure timely completion of rework per parameters and quality guidelines.

Job Summary

The Production Operator- BGA Rework Operator focuses on the manual touch-up, BGA Rework, hand-soldering, rework-SMT and inspection of the circuit board ensuring high quality standards. Reports directly to the Production and Warehouse Operations Manager at Unigen HQ, Newark, CA.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform BGA and Non- BGA component Rework:

• Demonstrate detailed practical knowledge of all the steps and aspects of BGA rework station operation
• Perform BGA localized paste printing and through-hole rework
• Using Automated BGA soldering equipment
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge - and complete all the steps - of both leaded/Pb-Free and clean/no-clean process
• Identify component polarity on the board and follow work instructions according
• Perform rework equipment operation, using soldering iron and hot-air tools
• Achieve timely completion of rework according to set parameters and requirements
• Demonstrate detailed practical knowledge of all rework tools and utilize as appropriate
• Perform soldering and board rework for SMT (Surface Mount Technology)
• Perform hand soldering on any type of board
• Demonstrate detailed practical knowledge of solder pot operation
• Read and follow BOM and rework instructions
• Install jumper wire per IPC

3. Repair damaged pad and trace

• Perform ad-hoc complex PCBA rework not covered by standard basic instructions

Other duties and responsibilities related to other production functions, as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• Prior 4+ on the job years or more practical manufacturing experience.
• User knowledge of ESD, Board handling, and Safety Practices including Personal Protective Equipment.
• User knowledge of components and their polarity, including resistors and capacitors.
• User knowledge of IPC-610 and J-STD-001 Soldering Standards.
• User Knowledge of latest revision-class 3 workmanship criteria is a plus.
