Job summary

AM General is hiring Production Employees to support HMWWV and JLTV A2 production in Mishawaka, Indiana. Hourly positions are represented by the UAW, with a focus on safety, teamwork, and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

New hires start around $20.86/hour for Production, with other tracks like Materials and Quality posted at lower rates. Benefits include health, dental, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and bonus programs. Training and daily zone briefings are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work on a contract basis for the first 30 days.
• Must be able to read and follow standardized work and job instructions.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
• Communicate effectively with other employees in assigned zone and attend all zone meetings, problem solving sessions, training, etc.
• May be required to learn multiple jobs.
• Must be able to use assigned hand tools, power tools, and torque tools.
• Shift start time 5:00 am.

Responsibilities

• Assemble/drill parts in accordance with standardized work and job instructions.
• Confirm quality of work performed.
• Technical capacity to run equipment within the facility.
• Must be able to use assigned hand tools, power tools, and torque tools.
• May operate material handling equipment including forklifts.
• Works and communicates with other employees.
• Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with safety rules.
• Maintain clean working environment.
