Nucor Corporation in Belvidere, IL is hiring for a steel production associate who will bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars, abiding by safety standards and quality requirements. This entry-level role offers steady shifts and opportunities within a leading North American steelmaker.

You must pass a hair follicle drug screen, have a high school diploma or GED, be legally eligible to work in the U.S., and be willing to work overtime and any shift.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate shearing and bending machines and overhead crane to process reinforcing steel bars.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw and spray gun for epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the work area in a clean and safe manner and assist others.

Compensation: $20/hr plus $1.50 2nd shift differential plus weekly production bonus.
Average annual earnings potential: $60,000+

Basic Job Functions:

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor’s vision and values.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
• Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
• Other tasks as required by Supervisor.
