Job summary

Nucor Corporation’s Bethlehem-area facility is hiring for a reinforcing steel fabrication role. You will bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing bars, operate multiple fabrication machines, and move materials with an overhead crane.

Safety and teamwork are essential as you follow Nucor’s standards and procedures on a fast-paced shop floor. Base hourly rate is $24.30 with a $1 shift differential, weekly production bonus eligibility, overtime, and profit-sharing opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma, GED or local/state equivalent.
• Must have basic math skills to calculate bar measurements.

Responsibilities

• Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars per customer orders.
• Operate shearing, bending and Fabmatic machines for reinforcing bars.
• Operate overhead crane to move material and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and assist teammates as needed.

Base Hourly Rate: Hourly rate (including weekly production bonus): $24.30
$1/hr Second Shift Differential. (Hours are 3pm-11pm)

Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer's orders.

Basic Job Functions:

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specified lengths.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
• Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Physical Demands:

• Some heavy lifting may be necessary
• Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold

• Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety sensitive position
• Must be able to work overtime when required
• Must be able to work any shift
