Job summary

Gainesville manufacturing company in Florida is seeking a 2nd shift machine operator to run processing equipment, stage materials, and package products. Training on 1st shift is provided before moving to 2nd shift.

Requires 2+ years of forklift experience, 2+ years of manufacturing machine operation, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. Hourly pay starts at $19.00 with potential for permanent hire.

Responsibilities

• Operate processing equipment and monitor run rates.
• Move and stage materials, package products, and load mixers.
• Enter data accurately into production systems with supervision.
• Maintain batch tickets and charge documentation.
• Demonstrate forklift proficiency and work under supervision.
• Communicate via plant radios and intercom; work overtime as needed.
• Maintain quality standards and safety rules.

Job description

Job duties:

• Follows, without exception, all work instructions and safety rules, including use of all PPE and safety equipment
• Participates in the general housekeeping of plant and work area
• Understands basic monitoring of assigned equipment including start up-shut down & lockout/tag-out procedures for equipment responsibilities
• Monitors and reports any warning lights promptly
• Able to demonstrate fork lift proficiency
• Maintains expected quality standards
• Ability to use digital scales in metric and US standard units
• Properly loads mixers
• Able to complete required data entry into production systems, accurately, with some assistance
• Generally performs (with supervision), entry level production tasks which include:
• Operating processing equipment
• Moves and stages materials
• Packages products
• Enters data into the computer system
• Monitors equipment, keeping processes running at desired run rates
• Ability to use/monitor computerized display and control screens
• Works under direction from peers, team leaders and shift managers
• Maintains proper documentation including batch tickets and partial bags
• Generally assists in preparation of batches and operation of processing equipment
• Team player
• Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to properly use plant radios and intercom system
• Works mandatory overtime as required

Skills/Requirements:

• To be considered you must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong math, reading, communication and organizational skills
• Must display fundamental computer literacy
• This position is required to stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, use hands to remove or lift boxes, stretch and reach with arms extended and stoop. Employees regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• 2+ years of forklift (ride on, walk behind) experience required
• 2+ years of manufacturing machine operation experience required

Work schedule:

• M-Th 2PM-12:30AM, mandatory overtime may be required on Fridays based on work load. Position will train on 1st shift from 4:00am - 2:30pm until moving to 2nd shift.
