Job summary

UGN Valparaiso in Indiana is hiring a Production Operator to assemble, mold, trim, inspect, and package products in a fast-paced manufacturing cell. Starting wage is $16 per hour with up to $0.40 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts, plus a $3 per hour raise after 30 days of continuous service.

Openings on 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts with overtime and benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred; opportunities to earn GED for free.
  • Paid 5-day manufacturing training program to prepare for the role.
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions, production boards, labels, safety warnings.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and read/writes production paperwork.
  • Basic computer skills are included.

Responsibilities

  • Read and follow standardized work instructions to manufacture, inspect, and pack product to quality specifications.
  • Maintain process documentation and perform pre-start checks and audits.
  • Rotate assignments within and across cells to secure materials and perform operations.
  • Perform 5S housekeeping duties and maintain cell cleanliness.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and attend meetings and training.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

TheProduction Operatorperforms a variety of assembling, molding, trimming, gluing, inspecting, and packaging of products based on assigned area. Starting Hourly Rate of $16 plus up to $0.40 cent shift differential (2nd & 3rd shifts) and a $3/hr increase in hourly wage upon conversion to full-time status. after 30 days of continuous service.

Openings on 1st Shift (6:30am to 3pm), 2nd Shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) and 3rd Shift (10:30 pm to 7:00 am). Overtime Available! Competitive Benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage, 401k, Paid Time Off, and Paid Holidays!

What you will do for UGN:

  • Read and follow standardized work and job instructions to manufacture, trim, inspect, and pack product in a safe and efficient manner to quantity and quality specifications of assigned work cell.
  • Maintain all process documentation in a timely and accurate manner, and perform all pre-start checklists, glue weights, tallies, and other job-related audits and system checks.
  • Rotate job assignments within a job cell as well as in other cells as required to secure material, perform the pertinent operations (assemble, mold, spray, trim, glue, weld, inspect, pack etc.).
  • Perform 5S duties as required and maintain housekeeping standards of cell assigned.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members in the cell as well as attend all team meetings, problem-solving sessions, training, shift meetings, etc.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

What you will bring to UGN:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred; Opportunities available to earn your GED for free.
  • Previous manufacturing experience highly preferred; we offer a paid 5-day training program to get you ready for the position.
  • Looking for dedicated workers interested in being part of a team environment and motivated to learn and meet production goals.
  • Ability to read basic operating instructions, production boards, material labels, safety and hazard warnings, manuals, etc.
  • Writing ability to complete process forms and related production reporting paperwork.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills
