Production Operator

Location: South Bend, IN (on Washington Street)

Availability: Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd)

Position Overview

The Production Operator I reports to the Production Manager/Supervisor. The job holder is responsible for operating equipment and all associated processes (preparing raw materials & packaging, unloading, packing & labeling) in compliance with legal and company rules. Proficiency in English is required.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepare raw materials and packaging by identifying, measuring, and transporting the right quantities to the appropriate production area, reporting deviations, and noting process start and finish times.
  • Operate processing equipment following process instructions and procedures.
  • Monitor equipment to maintain desired process rates.
  • Conduct initial testing and release of products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Verify labels and packaging materials, ensuring correct labeling according to rules and instructions.
  • Package final products following instructions and quality standards.
  • Perform all operations in accordance with quality standards, operating procedures, and legal EHS rules.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping in the designated area.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Production Manager/Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Knowledge of common software programs (MS Office).
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, process instructions, safety regulations, and quality procedures.
  • Availability to work in shifts.
Additional Requirements
  • One year of experience in an industrial environment.
Physical Environment
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Walk and climb stairs.
  • Use hands to lift or move boxes.
  • Stretch, reach, stoop, and bend.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Work environment includes normal chemical conditions, with typical noise, dust, and odors.

Pay is based on factors including education, experience, certifications, and location. The role pays $20/hr. H.B. Fuller offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health & wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and holidays. Eligibility varies.
