Team Summary
Shafter is a city in Kern County, California, United States. It is located 18 miles west-northwest of Bakersfield. Historically, much of Shafter's economy has been based on agriculture and ag-related industry. Local crops include almonds, pistachios, cotton, grapes and alfalfa as well as some carrots, potatoes and other vegetables. More recently Shafter has become a hub for a variety of economic endeavors including manufacturing, logistics, and energy. There are two manufacturing plants in Shafter across the street from each other Mat and Shingle. We are proud to work for one of the largest manufacturing companies in America!

Job Summary
The Shafter, CA Plant has an opening for a Production Machine Operator. If you are a dependable self-starter with a desire to grow and succeed, come explore this outstanding opportunity with GAF. The Production Operator will ensure the production of high quality residential roofing materials through accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of manufacturing processes to include machine operation, quality verification, packaging, housekeeping, and forklift operation.

Essential Duties

• Responsible for safe operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and forklifts, and production and/or shipment of quality products.
• Record and document all required data on the computer and/or in written form.
• Follow all safety, operational, maintenance, and housekeeping policies and procedures for the plant and your assigned department.
• Complete product testing and inspections in accordance with product and quality specifications and alert supervisor to variations in the production process at all times.
• Perform other duties related to plant operations as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or equivalent Required.
• Minimum of 6 months required in a manufacturing/industrial environment; Required.
• 1-2 years Preferred.
• Stand for long periods of time.
• Climb ladders and stairs and use catwalks.
• Bend at the knees and waist.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs. (or more with assistance).
• Regularly push and pull objects, push carts, and other equipment.
• Hear alarm bells and communicate on radio/walkie talkies.
• Use color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and be able to adjust your depth of focus.
• Use hands and fingers to feel and handle objects, tools, controls panels, and products.
• Wear and use required safety equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection, head protection, and gloves.
