Summary

The primary objective of this position is to safely operate machines to ensure flow of quality shingles.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

Safety

• Prioritize safety above all other metrics.
• Engage in safety initiatives to maintain a zero-incident culture.
• Understand and execute the incident management process.
• Comply with safety protocols including lock-tag-try, guarding, forklift, confined space entry, working from heights, and automobile safety.
• Participate in safety and housekeeping programs.

Operations

• Operate palletizer equipment conveyor (start, stop, observation, etc.).
• Perform preventative maintenance on the palletizer (tightening bolts, cleaning rollers, adjusting reflectors and switches, etc.).
• Clear jams and inspect pallets and bundles for quality issues.
• Hand seal packages as needed and manually palletize bundles or load onto the palletizer.
• Notify wrapper attendant of issues like misaligned wraps.
• Assist in repairing line breaks and removing seconds.
• Transport pallets and load/unload as necessary.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Front Line Leader.

Job Description

Ensure production equipment operates correctly and escalate concerns. Coordinate job changes, verify machine setup, audit compliance, maintain 5S standards, review quality data, and ensure product quality and compliance with standards.

Skills and Abilities

• Qualified across production areas with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

Computer and Software Competencies

Proficiency in SAP, POP, Excel, Word, AQ, and Owens Corning Learning portal.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of experience as an Operator preferred.
• Ability to lead and influence positively.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Lift up to 50 lbs routinely, 80 lbs with assistance.
• Work in extreme temperatures for up to 12 hours.
• Operate vehicles and ascend/descend stairs and forklift.
• Use PPE as required and maintain schedule flexibility.

Pay Rate: $24.91
