People selected for a Production Operator position may be placed in various roles within the production process of our Crown Health Care Laundry plant. Assignments are based on hiring needs and production levels in each area. The primary purpose of the Production Operator is to rotate through various positions within the plant to facilitate the receiving, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and loading of linens for delivery to hospitals and medical facilities. Employees will learn to operate various production equipment, ensuring safety and exceeding customer expectations daily.
All employees are required to learn all equipment and rotate as needed, with a typical learning curve of 2-5 days per position. Standards must be met within two weeks of hire and maintained. Employees will be placed in roles that match production needs and their skills.
All Production Operations employees, whether in Soil or Clean areas, must perform other duties as assigned, adhere to quality and safety standards, and be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
Minimum qualifications include a High School Education or GED preferred and excellent teamwork skills. Employees must be willing to rotate between all jobs as needed.
This role involves safely sorting returned, soiled linen into appropriate classifications for washing and preparing carts for the Clean Production side.
Soil Operations Duties include:
Employees will learn equipment and rotate between positions such as Catcher, Hand Fold, Ironer, and Shipping Clerk.
Secures linen carts, stacks linens per standards, removes linens from machines, and handles jams with maintenance assistance. Ensures quality and removes non-company linens or stained items.
Hand folds linens after washing or pressing, stacks items, and places them on carts. Makes quality decisions regarding item condition and correctness of stacks.
Feeds linens into the ironer machine, ensuring proper handling and quality. Decides when items need re-washing due to defects or stains.
Builds finished carts, weighs and records them, and prepares them for shipment. Maintains records, tracks orders, and may load delivery trucks. Requires Hep B shot, basic computer skills, and good recordkeeping and analytical skills.
