Job summary

Georgia Pacific in Janesville, WI is seeking Production Operators to support extrusion by operating, monitoring, and optimizing equipment to ensure product quality and meet production targets. This role emphasizes safety, quality, efficiency, machine uptime, and scrap reduction while contributing to continuous improvement in the plastics department at the lowest possible cost.

Operators work a 12-hour schedule (2-2-3) with start times at 6am or 6pm.

Qualifications

• Experience operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment.
• Experience working in a safety-focused industrial environment.
• Ability to read gauges including digital caliper and micrometer.

Responsibilities

• Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures and material flows.
• Inspect finished product quality and correct defects.
• Operate controls to adjust machine functions like air pressure or die gaps.
• Review orders and specs to set materials and procedures for extrusion.
• Measure materials with micrometers or scales to verify conformance.
• Move materials, supplies, and finished product as needed.
• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.

Georgia Pacific is seeking Production Operators for their Janesville, WI facility. The Production Operator will support production by operating, monitoring, and optimizing extrusion equipment to ensure consistent product quality and meet or exceed production targets. This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, quality, efficiency, machine up-time, and scrap reduction, while contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the plastics department at the lowest possible cost.

Operators work a 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Scheduled start times will be either 6am OR 6pm

Note: $2 hourly shift differential for night shift

Compensation in this role will be commensurate with experience.

What You Will Do

• Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures and amounts, dimensions and flow of materials or ingredients
• Inspect the quality and correct any defects in the finished product
• Operate controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure or die gaps
• Review work orders, specifications or instructions to determine materials, ingredients, procedures, components, settings, and adjustments for extruding plastic sheet
• Examine, measure and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards, using measuring devices such as micrometers or scales
• Move materials, supplies, components and finished product
• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience operating, troubleshooting, or maintaining industrial manufacturing equipment
• Experience working in a safety-focused industrial or manufacturing environment
• Experience reading gauges including a digital caliper and micrometer

What Will Put You Ahead

• Sheet extrusion experience for thermoforming applications
• Experience with the blending, crystallizing and drying process
• Experience working with GMP, food-safety and ISO procedures
• Experience working with thermoforming or injection molding equipment
• Bilingual in Spanish and English
