Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking a Production Operator for 1st Shift in Grand Prairie, TX to independently operate production equipment and fill in for other positions as needed. The role requires strong math, computer skills, and the ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities include operating mixers and weighing equipment, following batch tickets, and ensuring safety and quality. Training of new hires and participation in plant teams are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• Able to learn new tasks and assignments and willing to maintain flexibility and support change.
• Must possess sound mathematical, verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with and knowledge of safety.

• Trouble-shoot equipment.
• Package/label finished goods.
• Proficient in all areas of and the ability to operate SAP Inventory function and perform inventory cycle counts.

• Operate Lift Trucks.
• Read, understand and follow batch tickets to achieve production schedule.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Participate on plant teams and serve as a trainer for employees and/or new hires.
• Other duties as assigned by a supervisor, lead employee or other member of.

SHIFT

1st Shift (7:00 AM-3:30PM)

JOB OVERVIEW

• Under minimal direction, independently operates production equipment in various areas of manufacturing. Able to also fill in for other positions in the plant, as well as assuming a lead role if necessary.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Maintain a clean work area and work safely.
• Participates actively in all plant safety initiatives, programs and training sessions.

• Follow all standard operating procedures with respect to performing the duties of this position.
• Stays updated on ISO procedures

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 1-3 years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Strong computer proficiency
• Able to learn new tasks and assignments and willing to maintain flexibility and support change.
• Must possess sound mathematical, verbal and written communication skills. (Should be able to work with percentages.)
• Experience with and knowledge of safety.
