Job summary

MATTR in Ohio is seeking a Production Operator to operate and monitor extrusion/spooling/cutting equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.   • Ability to read gauges, perform measurements, and calculate differences to specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate production equipment across spooling, extrusion/expansion, and cutting processes.
  • Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as required to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Position, adjust, and manually feed materials to complete work orders.
  • Read and interpret work orders to determine product specifications and material requirements.
  • Load spools of material and assemble spools and packaging as required.
  • Inspect completed workpieces for defects and sort materials based on quality standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed within specified control limits and customer requirements.
  • Forecast production needs to support scheduling demands and daily orders.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively at all times.
  • Participate in and support Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) initiatives to promote an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) workplace.
  • Follow “Leader Standard Work” expectations and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the production team.
  • Communicate equipment issues to supervisors and collaborate with maintenance to resolve problems.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and junior employees, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safety standards.
  • Flex across different production roles and support team needs based on production demands.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Summary

The Production Operator plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by operating, monitoring, and adjusting production equipment to meet customer specifications and production targets. Supporting multiple functional areas—including spooling, extrusion/expansion, and cutting—this role ensures product quality, safety, and efficiency. By adhering to SOPs, maintaining equipment performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives, the Production Operator helps deliver consistent, high‑quality output in a dynamic production environment.

Roles
  • Extrusion Operator – responsible for operating and optimizing extrusion/expansion equipment to ensure consistent production of high‑quality products that meet customer specifications. This role is critical in maintaining production efficiency, equipment performance, and product integrity within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Cutting Line Operator – ensures accurate cutting and finishing of materials to meet customer specifications and production requirements. This role plays a key part in final product quality by maintaining precision, efficiency, and adherence to safety standards throughout the cutting process.
  • Brady Spooling Operator – responsible for managing spooling operations to ensure materials are properly loaded, processed, and packaged according to customer and production requirements. This role is essential in maintaining workflow efficiency, product quality, and safe handling of materials.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Visual ability to inspect and evaluate materials for quality.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and industrial equipment.
  • Moderate noise levels with occasional higher levels for short durations.
  • Prolonged standing and repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Frequent lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
