Nucor Corporation in Bourbonnais, IL is seeking a team member for reinforcing steel fabrication. You will bend, cut, and load bars according to customer orders while following safety programs.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be able to lift, carry and move heavy objects as part of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Follow Nucor safety programs and standards.
• Unload trailers and store material.
• Operate shearing machine to cut reinforcing bars to specific lengths.
• Operate bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and load material for fabrication or shipment.
• Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing bars to required lengths.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
• Assist other employees in related tasks as needed.

Purpose and Compensation

Purpose: Average annual earnings potential: $60,000+ Must pass hair follicle drug screen, including THC.

Bend, cut, bundle and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer's orders

Basic Job Functions

• Must adhere to Nucor's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor's vision and values.
• Unload trailers and store material in storage bins.
• Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape.
• Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
• Operate Fabmatic machine that cuts and bends reinforcing steel bars to specified shapes.
• Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
• Operate power saw for cutting reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
• Operate a spray gun in the application of epoxy touch up or reinforcing steel bars.
• Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
• Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.
• Other tasks as required by Supervisor.
• Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or local/state equivalent

Preferences

• Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements

Physical Demands

• Some heavy lifting may be necessary

Working conditions can be noisy/ dusty/ hot/ cold

Special Demands

• Due to the operating conditions of the position, this is a safety sensitive position
• Must be able to work overtime when required
• Must be able to work any shift
