Job summary

Justice Grown NJ is seeking a Production Manager to lead and optimize all production activities, ensuring compliance with New Jersey CRC and delivering high-quality products. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to drive daily execution and long-term improvements.

The candidate will collaborate with cultivation, retail, quality, and distribution teams, manage budgets, KPIs, and reporting, while maintaining safety and efficiency across the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Meet requirements to pass NJ cannabis affiliation.
  • Proven ability to maintain product accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure departmental goals are met by aligning production objectives with company priorities and driving accountability.
  • Lead with a hands-on approach, engaging directly with production processes to meet goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and increase scalability across the department.
  • Establish and track KPIs focusing on compliance, efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resource planning for cost-effective operations.
  • Partner with cultivation, retail, quality, and distribution teams for alignment of production priorities.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, audits, and inspections under NJ CRC requirements.
  • Drive innovation through new technologies, equipment, and best practices.
  • Provide senior-level reporting on performance, risks, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote accountability, safety, and continuous improvement through leadership and hands-on engagement.
  • Act as key point of contact for production decisions, vendor coordination, and leadership reporting.

Production Manager

The Production Manager is a senior, hands-on leader responsible for ensuring the effective, compliant, and efficient operation of all production activities for Justice Grown NJ.

This role combines strategic oversight with a roll-up-your-sleeves mentality, ensuring that production runs smoothly day-to-day while also driving long-term process improvements. The Production Manager works closely with cross-functional teams to align production with company goals, maintain compliance with the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC), and deliver consistent, high-quality products.

What You'll Do:
  • Ensure departmental goals are consistently met by aligning production objectives with company priorities, driving accountability at every level of leadership.
  • Lead with a hands-on approach, engaging directly with production processes and supporting team members as needed to meet goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and increase scalability, ensuring consistent execution across the department.
  • Establish and track KPIs that measure both team performance and leadership effectiveness, with a focus on compliance, efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Manage departmental budgets and resource planning to ensure cost-effective operations and accurate forecasting.
  • Partner cross-functionally with cultivation, retail, quality, and distribution teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of production priorities.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, audits, and inspections under New Jersey CRC requirements, ensuring adherence across all production processes.
  • Drive innovation through new technologies, equipment, and best practices, ensuring adoption and sustainability across the department.
  • Provide senior-level reporting to operations leadership on departmental performance, risks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement through both leadership and hands-on engagement.
  • Act as the key point of contact for production decisions, vendor coordination, and leadership reporting.
  • Other responsibilities as needed to meet goals.
What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Meet requirements to pass NJ cannabis affiliation
  • Ability to maintain product accurately and efficiently
  • Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining focus on accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to take direction and complete daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain high standards in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment
  • High level of organization, patience and flexibility
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Willing to focus on repetitive work for long periods of time
  • Familiarity with cannabis production equipment, processes, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in seed-to-sale tracking systems (e.g., METRC) and Microsoft Office Suite.
