Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Altoona, PA, is hiring a first shift Material Handler to ensure smooth flow of unfinished and finished goods.

You will handle materials safely, communicate with supervisors and operators, and keep work areas organized and labeled to meet production and shipping schedules. Your duties include receiving finished product, inspecting for defects, packing, labeling, and following daily routes and paperwork with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills required.
• Able to work in a continuous fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Able to lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive finished product at the end of the line and place in final packaging
• Inspect finished goods prior to packaging and report any defects or flaws and ensure correction before packing
• Zip and/or bag product
• Place correct stickers/inserts in or on boxes
• Safely and efficiently operate line equipment
• Fold and construct cardboard boxes
• Label and box packaged product and place on porta-racks or cube for shipping
• Read and follow route slips and daily schedules
• Complete all required paperwork correctly and accurately
