Job summary

84 Lumber is seeking a Production Manager in Training to learn all aspects of manufacturing operations at a building components plant, with emphasis on safety and quality of roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels.

Under the Plant Manager's mentorship, the 9-12 month program blends on-the-job and classroom training, leadership coursework, and Lean Green Belt development, with travel to 22 facilities nationwide and Travel Dept. support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus bachelor's degree, industrial engineering preferred.

Overview

The Production Manager in Training (PMT) will learn all aspects of manufacturing operations in a building components plant with a strong emphasis on the safety of the associates and the quality of the structural wood components being produced. This includes roof trusses, floor trusses, and wall panels for residential, multi-family, and agricultural construction.

Your career is launched from the manufacturing plant closest to your home. Under the mentorship of the Plant Manager, you will learn all aspects of production operations while following your PMT training guide. Your 9-12 month journey will entail a combination of:

• On-the-job training.
• Classroom training.
• A leadership class.
• Beginning a program to earn your Lean Green Belt.
• Other training, including continuous improvement projects.

During the 9-12 month period, you may be asked to travel to other manufacturing locations to gain exposure to different manufacturing environments and to potentially relocate (with company assistance) to one of our 22 current truss manufacturing facilities nationwide. 84 Lumber’s Travel Department handles travel reservations such as flights, rental vehicles, and hotel accommodations.

Schedule: Monday through Friday from 6:0 am to 3:30 pm

Pay: $20/hr
