Production Manager / Manufacturing Engineer

Gryphon Environmental, Inc is an established leader in advanced thermal drying technology, and we have an immediate opening to add to our team. Gryphon Environmental’s equipment has been installed throughout the United States and serves a variety of industries including municipalities, wastewater treatment, and agriculture. Our flagship location in Owensboro, Kentucky is seeking to add a talented Production Manager / Manufacturing Engineer to our team. The purpose of this role is to lead and optimize the manufacturing department's production scheduling, shop flow, and day-to-day production activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide day-to-day direction and prioritization for fabrication and assembly activities, ensuring personnel and equipment are aligned with production requirements and project schedules.
- Assist with capacity planning, labor allocation, and prioritization of work across multiple concurrent projects.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously adjust detailed production schedules based on project priorities, material availability, labor capacity, machine capacity, and customer deadlines. Monitor schedule performance and proactively identify and resolve potential delays or bottlenecks.
- Assist with capacity planning, labor allocation, and prioritization of work across multiple concurrent projects.
- Monitor production progress and communicate project status, schedule risks, and potential delays to appropriate internal teams.
- Analyze and improve material/component flow through the shop.
- Review Engineering Packets, Bill of Materials (BOMs), Cultists, etc. before distributing them to appropriate personnel.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist sales, fabrication, assembly, and installation teams as required
- Other assigned duties including support of testing, fabrication, and installation needs internally and externally in the field.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering (or other applicable degree).
- Experience with project scheduling including proficiency using project management software.
- Knowledge and Experience with Welding, Fabrication, and Manufacturing of sheet metal and weldments. Including machines such as welders, sheet metal breaks, waterjets, laser cutters, bandsaws, mills, drill presses, etc.
- Must have strong organizational and systematic problem-solving skills, a good attention to detail, a desire to improve systems and processes, and the ability to take initiative, multitask, prioritize demands, and work effectively under pressure across multiple projects simultaneously without direct supervision or guidance.
- Must possess good communication (written and verbal) skills, and be able to communicate professionally with internal and external teams including customers.
- A willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet goals and deadlines. Must be willing to travel for up to two weeks at a time to customer locations across the US as needed for installation and testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing components and machinery for manufacturing. Must be proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft suite of software. Required SolidWorks skills include effective design for manufacturing using weldment and sheet metal tools and creation of clear fabrication drawings and manufacturing information.
- Industrial electrician experience/knowledge, including power wiring, instrumentation, PLC, etc.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production planning.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
